Cheer & Social Media

ree

Social media definitely has its pros and cons. I find it useful to share photos, advertise new classes, and connect with parents and coaches.

Many school districts have a policy where coaches can't be friends/followers on social media with their cheerleaders and/or the cheerleaders' parents until after they graduate from the school. I understand this, however I don't work for a school district, so I get to set my own guidelines. I actually like being friends with cheerleaders and parents on social media because it keeps me honest...I have to make sure that everything I post is grandma-appropriate.

Check out this blog post from the Association for Applied Sport Psychology about athletes and social media...it's a good one.

The Eastside Dream Elite cheerleading program is associated with Renton Parks, Kirkland Parks, and Issaquah Parks. Try-outs are not required for any EDE teams, and all teams are non-competitive except for Red Squad.  We work hard to keep costs low for EDE participants.  Scholarships for class fees are available from the respective organizations for residents who qualify.  Uniform fees are not covered by those scholarships, however we make every effort to help those who wouldn’t otherwise be able to participate.
