Head Coach Anne Christiansen

Coach Anne has been coaching cheerleading since 1999. She started a recreational cheer program through the Bellevue Parks & Community Services Department in 2001 which became Bellevue Dream Elite. The name was changed to Eastside Dream Elite in 2003 to reflect the growth of the program and the athletes participating from all over the Eastside area.


Anne has coached high school, all-star, semi-pro and college cheer. In addition to EDE, Anne is the Recreational Cheer Director for Washington and sits on the Executive Board of the Washington State Cheer Coaches Association. Anne has a B.A. in Communications from Brigham Young University and an M.A. in Higher Education from the University of Washington.


Anne is AACCA safety certified and is a certified cheerleading judge both in Washington State and nationally. In 2009 she was named Washington State’s Veteran Judge of the Year in 2010 she was named Coach of the Year for recreational cheer. She received the Coach of the Year honor again in 2015. The EDE program was named Cheer Program of the Year in 2014 and 2015 (an unprecedented back-to-back win). Anne was inducted into the Washington State Cheerleading Hall of Fame in 2017.

Anne has twin sons, Cory and Derek. When she’s not coaching cheerleading, Anne also enjoys ballroom dancing and traveling with her husband Neal, affectionately referred to in EDE as “Mr. Coach Anne.”

Coach Hillary Lewis  (Renton Program, Highland Squad, Hip Hop Choreographer)

Coach Hillary found EDE through a Google search in 2017, and we're so glad she did! Hillary cheered all through middle school and high school and was captain of both those teams. She then continued two years on a semi-pro team while she attended college in Bellingham studying Elementary Education. Coach Hillary now manages a real estate company in downtown Bellevue.


Coach Hillary coaches for Highland Squad, she choreographs for Dance/Drill Team, and she recently took over our Renton program. In 2018 she won the Rising Star Coach of the Year award from the Washington State Cheer Coaches Association.


When Hillary is not cheering or working, she loves going to country concerts, line dancing, and rooting for the Cougs & Seahawks!

Coach Christina Kerstetter  (Issaquah Program)

Coach Christina has been coaching for Eastside Dream Elite since 2013.  She has a long history in cheerleading and working with children.  Her cheerleading background includes cheering for the Semi-Pro Cheer squad, Renton Ravens, as well as 4 years of Varsity cheer for Kentridge High School, in booth competition and sideline squads.  Additionally, she has been a coach for the Bellevue Wolverines Junior Cheer program.

Christina is a UW Husky twice over, holding a B.A. in Political Science as well as Law, Societies and Justice from the University of Washington, and, more recently, a M.A. in Education Policy.  Christina has devoted much time to bettering the lives of youth and in addition to coaching, works as a ski instructor for Powderpigs Ski School, and as a youth leader for her church.  In the past she has worked for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue and the Community Center for Education Results in Seattle.

When Christina isn’t coaching, she loves to travel with her husband (Mr. Coach Christina) and her daughters Makenzie and Madison, root on her beloved Huskies, and spend time hiking and skiing!

Coach Katie Knowles (Mercer Island Program)

Coach Katie has been coaching for Eastside Dream Elite since the fall of 2013.  She cheered for the Renton Ravens semi-pro cheer squad for three years and previously coached the Bellevue Junior Wolverines Cheer Squad. She was on Newport High School Colorguard and Winterguard for four years.  


Katie has a B. A. in Music and a minor in Anthropology from Western Washington University.  In addition, she has a Master's degree in Education from Grand Canyon University. She currently works for the Mercer Island School District as a fifth grade classroom teacher. 


When Katie is not coaching she enjoys going to the opera and theater, singing, reading, traveling when she can, and hanging out with friends.

Coach Jacqui Jackson (Highland Squad and Kirkland Program)

Coach Jacqui has a long history in both cheerleading in dance. She cheered and was on the Dance/Drill Team at Tahoma High School. She was dance captain her junior and senior years. She was also a competitive ballroom dancer in high school. Jacqui attended Brigham Young University-Idaho and earned a B.S. in Psychology and Philosophy. She formerly worked with people with developmental disabilities in schools, and she also trained special education teachers and para-educators in many school districts from Olympia to Lynnwood. She works at the Overlake School as the Director of Service Learning and Community Engagement. Coach Jacqui won the Rising Star Rec Coach of the Year Award for 2016.


In her spare time Jacqui sings in the semi-professional octet Resonate, enjoys exploring Mid-Century architecture, and finding vintage clothing and décor with her husband Andy (a.k.a. Mr. Coach Jacqui).

Coach Ariana  (Ballard Program & Tumbling Coach)

Coach Ariana is in her second year of coaching for EDE. She has an extensive dance, cheer, and gymnastics background, which made coaching cheer and tumbling classes a great next step. She graduated Seattle Christian High School where she cheered with for 2 years. She was also cheer co-captain her senior year.

Currently Ariana is a student at Seattle University studying Business at their Albers School of Business. She plans to major in Marketing and minor in International Business. 

When she isn't busy working and being a full-time student, Ariana enjoys spending time with friends and family, hiking, cooking, and playing intermural sports for Seattle U. Go Redhawks!

Coach Katie Sander Smith  (Guest Coach, Nationals Helper)

Coach Katie is an EDE alum who returned to coach for the last several years. She started with EDE in 2004, where she was on both Dream Team and Power Squad. Katie then cheered for Newport High School where she was Captain her senior year. She also was a junior coach for EDE during this time. She went on to cheer and coach for the Puget Sound Titans and the Renton Ravens Semi-Pro Football cheer squads for eight years. 


Coach Katie was nominated for Assistant Coach of the Year in 2015 and received Rec Rising Star Coach of the Year in 2017. Katie is a graduate of Washington State University with a B.A. in Interior Design and a minor in Architecture. She is a designer at IDI Studio currently. She moved to the San Diego area in 2018 but will still be helping as a guest coach as she is available. No matter where she is, Coach Katie and Mr. Coach Katie (Wes) will always be a part of the EDE family!

Coach Michaela Covner  (Highland Squad and Red Squad)

Michaela cheered for EDE for many years. She has been on Dream Team, Dance/Drill Team, and Power Squad.  Michaela graduated from the Northwest Yeshiva High School and from the University of Washington. She has B.A. in International Studies: Jewish Studies. She currently works as an Engagement Coordinator at Camp Solomon Schechter.

Coach Michaela has also choreographed Highland Squad's competition routines. She is a true asset to Highland Squad's coaching staff.

Coach Teagan  (Tumbling Coach)

Coach Teagan has been an EDE cheerleader since she was five years old. She is now a senior at Newport High School and is participating in the Running Start program at Bellevue College. She plans to attend college next year in California and is considering studying Consumer Psychology. In past years she has performed as a Jingle Belle in The Bellevue Collection's winter show, "Snowflake Lane."

Teagan has been named a All-American Cheerleader by the United Spirit Association (USA). Teagan is junior coaching with Coach Ariana for our tumbling program this year.

Coach Kari  (Summer Camps)

Coach Kari coached for Highland Squad for three years, she coaches for our summer camps, and head coaches summer camps as well. She also runs special tumbling workshops for EDE when she is in town. 

Kari graduated from Interlake High School where she was captain of the cheer squad and cheered for three years.  She is now a sophomore at Washington State University. Her favorite thing to do in cheerleading is stunting and cheering at Friday night football games.  She considers her best skills her dancing and her ability to get the crowd involved in cheers!

Coach Maddie  (Summer Camps)

Coach Maddie was an EDE cheerleader for many years, cheered for the nationally ranked Skyline High School cheer program, and has also cheered for the University of Washington.  She is a junior at the UW majoring in Public Health. Her favorite thing about cheer is performing and competing.  Her best skill is a toe touch.  This is her fifth year coaching for EDE and she is also a Head Coach at EDE summer camps.

Coach Cassie  (Highland Squad)

Cassie is a junior on Skyline Varsity Cheer. She had been cheering for 5 years and won a Cheer State Title in 2017, and is hoping to win another this year!


Cassie had been coaching the Highland Squad for two years. Her favorite part of coaching is practice cheers and jumps!

Coach Samantha  (Highland Squad & Kirkland Dream Team)

Coach Sam came to the Pacific Northwest from the east coast. She was a cheerleader for 15 years (sideline, competitive, collegiate) before becoming the head coach of a high school sideline squad in Delaware. Sam worked with that team for three years before relocating to the west coast. Sam received a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Wilmington University. She earned a Master's degree in Special Education with a focus on Autism/Severe Intellectual Abilities from Wilmington University. She then earned a Master's degree in School Leadership from the University of San Diego. 

Sam teaches elementary special education at Eastgate Elementary School and Sammamish High School in Bellevue. In her free time, Sam enjoys taking Pure Barre classes, crocheting, and reading.

Coach Jessica Brumer  (Highland Squad & Power Squad)

Coach Jessica started her EDE career when she was in 3rd grade. She was on Dream Team, Dance/Drill Team, and Power Squad during her time on the team. She is now in her last year at the University of Washington-Bothell where she is majoring in Educational Studies.


Jessica coaches both Highland Squad and Power Squad. Her favorite part of coaching is seeing all the smiles on the cheerleaders' faces!

​Coach Ariel  (Summer Camps)

Coach Ariel was a cheerleader for Eastside Dream Elite Cheer 4th until 12th grade. She was been on the championship Red Squad since its inception in 2013 and has four state titles to her name. She coaching summer camps for many years and coached Dream Team as well. Ariel is an accomplished tumbler and backspot, and is a great asset to every team she is on.


Ariel graduated from Interlake High School and now attends Champlain College in Vermont. In her spare time Ariel enjoys swimming, choir, and participating in drama programs where she has performed in several theater productions.

Coach Emily  (Highland Squad)

Emily is a junior and cheers on the varsity team at Skyline, and her team won the Medium Tumbling division at state in 2017. This is her first year coaching for Highland Squad and she loves coming to practice every week and seeing all the smiles on everyone’s faces! Her favorite thing about cheer is competitions and going to Orlando, Florida for Nationals.

​Coach Anastasia Kibby  (Highland Squad)

Coach Anastasia began her career with EDE as a part of the very first Power Squad. She then went on to compete with the gymnastics team at Newport High School. She attended Washington State University and earned a B.S. in Psychology. She is currently working on her Master of Social Work from the University of Denver. She recently served as a Trauma Informed Care Coordinator for the Northwest Children's Home, Inc., and is currently serving an internship at Interfaith Family Homeless Shelter in Everett.

In her spare time, Anastasia enjoys hiking, traveling, and drinking a good cup of coffee. 

Coach Allison is a junior at Skyline High School. She has been cheering for four years. This is her second year coaching Highland Squad and she is well-loved by the squad and her fellow coaches. Coach Allison's favorite part of cheerleading is flying!
